“People give a clean pillow cover on and it looks and smells nice and fresh. But you are bundling up something extremely nasty underneath,” said Dr. Art Tucker, St. Barts Hospital’s principal clinical scientist and lead researcher.
The research stopped short of demonstrating that there was an increased risk of certain transference of contagions between hospital patients. Different researcher suggests that pillows were so generally use that they could not constitute a major health risk.
