“People put a clean pillow cover on and it looks and smells nice and fresh. But you are wrapping up something extremely terrible underneath,” said Dr. Art Tucker, lead researcher and principal clinical scientist at St. Barts Hospital.
The research stopped short of demonstrating that there was an expanded risk of certain transmission of infections within hospital patients. Other scientists suggests that pillows were so generally use that they could not constitute a major health risk.
