The “hypoallergenic” label on bedding products is often perceived to be unable to cause allergic reactions by many people. In fact medically, it is not known as hypoallergenic. This label is only made by some companies to promote its products. According to the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the term hypoallergenic has considerable market value in promoting certain bedding & skincare products to consumers. However, this is not the case with dermatological meaning. Hypoallergenic products do contain fewer substances that can cause allergies (allergens) or that trigger allergies.

However, that does not mean this product cannot cause allergies at all. Because, it is quite difficult to determine a product can not cause an allergic reaction because there are many potential allergens contains in a product. So, basically, everyone certainly has sensitivity to the content that can cause allergies (allergens) in a skin care product. However, the sensitivity levels tend to vary. Some people may not experience allergies at all when using certain skincare products.

Meanwhile, some others may feel itchy or uncomfortable on the skin. Then, other people instead experienced severe allergic reactions. In addition, sometimes the term hypoallergenic is uses to state that the product does not contain fragrances. However, some people instead experience allergic reactions in the form of contact dermatitis because they use other skincare products that do not contain fragrances. That means hypoallergenic labels are not potent enough to prevent a full allergic reaction.

Yes. Hypoallergenic pillow and mattress covers serve as a physical barrier if you’re allergic to dust mites. Evidence shows the covers provide a measurable, significant decrease in dust mite allergen on pillows and mattresses. However, the hypoallergenic covers alone will probably not make much of a difference unless you take other steps to reduce your exposure to dust mite and related allergens. Covering pillows and mattresses is not effective UNLESS you do the following:

  1. Regularly wash Pillow Cover in hot water to remove new dust mite allergens.
  2. Take steps to remove dust mites.
  3. Vacuum regularly
